Areas near Sydney are divided into regions:
West: Blue Mountains, Wollemi, Garden of Stones, Kanangra-Boyd
North: Yengo, Ku-ring-gai, Brisbane Waters, Central Coast (towards Newcastle)
Southwest: Southern Highlands, Bungonia (towards Goulburn)
Southeast: Royal National Park, Nattai, Illawarra (towards Nowra)

Where the well-known three sisters sit near Katoomba. This includes the touristy areas of Katoomba near Scenic World, including Federal Pass, Wentworth Falls and Leura, along the Great Western Highway (and Blue Mountains Line).
Grose Valley wilderness area splits the Blue Mountains into two. The valley is built with a network of walking trails along with lookouts on both sides of the wall, guiding visitors to the diverse wildlife of the area. While being severely impacted by bushfires, the former glory of Blue Gums still shines deep in the wilderness.

Sydney is separated from Central Coast and Newcastle through the mountains and rivers of these places. These are within easy reach of public transport. There's also everyone's favourite station- Wondabyne Station.
Plenty of coastal walks, country views and waterfalls towards the south of Sydney. Royal National Park is also the second oldest national park in the world, offering long coastal walks along stunning cliff edges and beaches. From a short stroll in the park to the full coast-to-coast run, it's a place that suits all.
