East Rail line Metro Cammell EMU (AC)
Not to be confused with MTR Metro Cammell EMU (DC), used in urban lines.A common train that was phased out as part of the East Rail Line extension project. The old trains were unable to cope with the steep gradients used to descend into the tunnels and at the age of 40, had to be phased out. Newer 9-car trains are shorter but feature extra capacity (with wider trains) and have better acceleration (1.3 m/s^2 rather than just 1.0 m/s^2).
SP1900 EMU
Another type of trains that used to run on the East Rail Line. They have now been refurbished and run on the Tuen Ma Line, along with other SP1900 units in former West Rail and Ma On Shan lines.
