This page is a comprehensive guide on how to get off at Wondabyne- everyone's favourite train station. This guide has been created because so many people have done this wrong and haven't been able to get off at Wondabyne Station. The complexity of getting off at this station has confused even the smartest minds of our nation, hence the need to take this seriously with a lengthy guide.
This page is half serious and half a joke so yeh...haha. In all seriousness everything mentioned in this page is true
What is Wondabyne Station? Why is it so mysterious and complicated? To answer this question we need to first look at how the station looks.
This barely addresses our question. It's just a normal train station, isn't it?
If we look closely, we'll find that we have a very short train platform. The platform is only long enough for one door to open.
This is how short it actually looks. Therefore to be able to get off, you will need to be on the very last door of the last car of the train.
What happens if it's a 8-car train? 8-car trains are generally 2 trains hooked onto each other. Therefore which car should I be on?
The answer is the same: The last door of the last car of the train.
However, this is where things get a bit tricky. In a normal 4-car train, we can get on at any carriage of the train and simply get to the last car to get off at Wondabyne. In this 8-car train, we'll need to get on at the rear 4 cars (cars 5-8). Why?
From this picture of a train, we can see how we cannot walk through cars 4 and 5. They are two ends of two trains hooked together, and the only way to go from car 4 to 5 is to get off at a train station, walk along the platform, and get back on. Therefore if you are on cars 1-4, you will not be able to walk to the last door at the last carriage, and you'll be stuck with the train station saying goodbye to you.
Simply look at a train and get on at the last carriage. The first car in the direction where the train is heading is called the first carriage, or car 1. Therefore the last car is at the end of the train.
There are a few ways to know which car is the last car.
Getting on at Central Station: This is how the platform looks like. The very first door that you see will be the last door of the last carriage. Easy!
For other stations, most train stations look like this. By watching how trains come in and out we'll know where the last carriage is. You can also ask someone on the platform.
Wondabyne is a Request Stop- you'll need to tell the train guard you're getting off at the station.
Who is the train guard? Train guard is the person mostly at the end of the train. When you see a blue light, you'll know the guard is here.
At each station, the train guard will come out of the compartment. There are many ways to convey your message, but the simplest way is to approach them and say, "Stop at Wondabyne". That's it!
While all these seem easy, it does lead to a few common mistakes:
Getting on the first 4 carriages on an 8-car train, and realising they can't get off at Wondabyne
Waiting at any door other than the last door on the last carriage, and realising the doors don't open
Catching an express train which does not stop at Wondabyne
Before you go, have a look at these questions to see if you're Wondabyne-compliant!
